Hiking Backpacks

  • Hydration Pack Bike Backpack with 50 Oz / 1.5L BPA-Free Bladder: I bought this pack in February 2016 after trying to hike with a messenger bag and water bottle. This hydro pack has made my life 100,000 times easier, more comfortable, and hikes more enjoyable. From the ease of not having to take my water bottle out to rehydrate to the perfect sized pockets that fit snacks, keys and my phone, it has everything you need for a short day hike. I’m looking to upgrade for longer day hikes and backpacking, but for short treks, this will remain my go-to! And at less than $20 (especially with Amazon Prime free shipping), the price can’t be beat either.

Shoes

  • Keen Targhee II Hiking Shoes: These shoes have NEVER let me down. The only time I have gotten wet feet is when walking through a creek that was about 6″ deep and after hiking for about 5 hours in a torrential downpour, including walking through some gnarly puddles. They have great traction, amazing wicking, and fit like a glove. I ordered the size I typically wear, though they do recommend ordering about a half size up.
  • Keen Whisper Hiking Sandals: Keen hiking sandals have gotten me through many long days on my feet, and hiking is not an exception. The soles are thick and have great traction. They also mold to your feet the more you wear them, making them more comfortable after some use. The highlight of these shoes for me is the rubber toe. This makes them extra amazing when hiking as your toes are protected from accidental stubbing on boulders or trees. What makes them extra amazing is their versatility. They are amazing in lakes, rivers and creeks, the beach, or just hiking/walking around. My first pair I bought just days before our family’s three-day trip to Disneyland, and without wearing them even once, I walked around Disney pain free. Pick these up for your summer hikes, you won’t regret it!
